YEARLING MANAGER

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced person to fulfil the role of YEARLING MANAGER.

LTF sell at all major sales across Australia and this is a great opportunity for the right candidate to join an emerging boutique breeding operation.

This position ideally suits someone with prior experience in a similar role who possesses strong communication and organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.

The role will include:

- Daily care and preparation of our yearling and weanling stock for sales

- Liaising with our Feed Consultant and managing individualised feeding programs

- Designing and managing yearlings' education and exercise schedule

- Assisting with farrier and veterinary work

- As required, assisting with broader farm and general stud duties

EXPERIENCED NIGHT FOAL WATCH ATTENDANT

Longwood Thoroughbred Farm is seeking an experienced person to join our team in the important role of Night Foal Watch Attendant for the 2024 Foaling Season.

 The successful applicant will be engaged for a fixed term contract with single on farm accommodation provided. Opportunity exists for full time ongoing employment post the breeding season.

What we’re looking for:

- Prior experience working with Broodmares and foals

- Previous foaling experience with knowledge of normal and abnormal foaling positions

- Decision maker with the ability to provide a considered assessment of a situation

- Prior experience in foaling down mares on your own

- Ability to accurately monitor pre and post foaling mares

- Experience monitoring and providing assistance if required to newborn foals

- Knowledge and understanding of veterinary procedures

- Excellent ability to communicate with veterinarians

- Ability to work autonomously

- Accurate Record Keeping and keen attention to detail

- Manual drivers license, experience towing a float

GARDENER

Part time role with flexible hours.

The day to day tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • General garden duties including mowing lawns and pruning trees, clearing branches

  • Operating tractors and other machinery

  • Assisting in paddock and pasture preparation

  • Fencing repairs and maintenance

What we are looking for:

  • Experience driving a tractor

  • Experience looking after gardens and paddocks

  • Physically fit and strong

  • Punctual and reliable

  • Manual drivers’ licence and own transport

  • The ability to follow instructions accurately

  • Knowledge of the safety requirements when using high powered equipment

  • Experience maintaining and servicing machinery would be an advantage
